AMD confirms Radeon Instinct MI100 GPU with CDNA architecture for the second half of 2020
AMD is gearing up for a busy holiday. Not only will we have the arrival of new generation consoles with company technology, but also AMD confirms Radeon Instinct MI100 GPU with RDNA 2 architecture, which promises to shake the GPU market in the same proportion as Ryzen processors in the CPU category.
The manufacturer should also debut its CDNA architecture, RDNA’s “sister” focused on data centers and raw data processing, with the launch of the Radeon Instinct MI100, planned to arrive in the second half of 2020, as pointed out by Mark Papermaster, head of technology from AMD, on your Twitter.

Further details about the card were not revealed, but leaks indicate that we will have a 7nm accelerating GPU based on the Arcturus XL chip, with 200W TDP, up to 32GB of HBM2 memory and clocks between 1000MHz and 1200MHz. The final model of the MI100 is believed to be equipped with Samsung’s HBM2E “Flashbolt” memory, with an impressive 3.2Gbps of transfer resulting in a bandwidth of 1.5Tb / s.
According to AMD, the CDNA architecture should be a big step for the company in the Data Center market, offering up to 26% more performance than the competition. The solutions equipped with the novelty will make use of Inifinity Architecture, similar to the Infinity Fabric of Ryzen processors, in addition to taking advantage of the Radeon Open Compute Platform (ROCm) to optimize the GPU and improve its scalability.

The Radeon Instinct MI100 is expected to be a match for Nvidia’s A100 GPU, launched last month. The Taiwanese Ampere acceleration system also features respectful specifications, with impressive memory and data transfer.
