Apple CarKey – See a list of devices that can open cars remotely
The new feature arrived with iOS14, but is not compatible with all devices with update
Last Monday, June 22, WWDC 2020, Apple’s annual conference, took place, and the company detailed the updates of the new iOS14. A lot of information was released warming the hearts of Apple lovers, one of the points that came along with iOS14 is CarKey. The new feature allows you to lock and unlock your car, and you can even start it.
Apple CarKey works by means of NFC communication, communication by proximity field, in this way it is enough to approach the iPhone close to the reader to start executing its actions. In addition, it will also be possible to share and manage the keys , being able to give and withdraw access temporarily, the user can also select the “access levels” that other users may have. According to Apple’s website, Carkey works up to 5 hours after the iPhone is completely downloaded .

The first car to have support for the new feature is the BMW 5 Series 2021, Carkey will be available on the Apple Wallet.
The functionality will also be available for users who remain on iOS13, however not all devices with the new version of the operating system will be compatible with the feature, watchOS 7 will also not be compatible.
To use Carkey it is not necessary that you unlock your Iphone, as explained previously, only with the approach of the device you can already perform the actions provided by the resource. In this way, only cell phones that can do tag readings, compatible with NFC, will have support for CarKey, that is, cell phones that were launched from the Iphone XR onwards.

Although the Apple Watch Series 5 is very similar to the Apple Watch Series 4, the brand has determined that only the Appel Watch 5 Series will support Apple CarKey.
