The next Apple smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 6 to be launched during the last part of the year, could incorporate new mental health features available to the user, among which would be the possibility of prior detection of panic attacks.
Today both activity bracelets and smart watches have managed to gain a foothold in the market not only because of their technology, but also because they are devices that allow us to take a little more care of our health by better managing our exercises in the gym or outdoors and also being able to track the health of the user thanks to the sensors and applications.
Now filter Jon Prosser has mentioned new features that are supposed to come with the new Apple smartwatch related to mental health.
The Apple Watch Series 6 could include a blood oxygen sensor that Cupertino’s would take advantage of to implement new mental health-related features such as panic attack detection.
Prosser claims that this feature could come this year, but that it could also be delayed to the version of the 2021 watch. In any case, he anticipates that the watch would be able to calculate our blood oxygen levels with the heart rate and thus determine if it is hyperventilating the user. This could help identify a panic attack before it occurred by receiving a warning from the watch. If, for example, you are driving, the user would be asked to stop offering different breathing exercises. This is not the first time that a panic attack detection feature has been leaked.
The fact that a blood oxygen monitoring sensor is included is an indicator for the user to know if they have any type of serious respiratory or heart problem that should be treated by a doctor.
