Battlefield 5 players will be disappointed to learn that the war game will soon be abandoned. Indeed, the developer DICE announces that it will offer a final update this summer (normally June) with new content. After that, it will be over.
The official Battlefield website states :
We will be releasing a final update this summer, which will bring new content, weapons and changes to the game. We plan to release it in June. We are constantly fighting against the obstacles of telework. We will keep you posted on developments next month.

Here is an overview of what awaits players:
- New content: a new update will be published this summer
- Weekly Rewards: After the update is released this summer, you will receive Battlefield coins or company coins as weekly rewards, so you can unlock any equipment you may have missed
- Events and activities: various weekly initiatives are planned, such as the reintroduction of the #FridayNightBattlefield servers, where the community can play Battlefield V in a friendly atmosphere. Nostalgia Thursdays are also planned, where DICE will bring players together on all Battlefield games
- Work maintained on updates of community parts
The abandonment of Battlefield V this summer is criticized by the gaming community, especially in view of the updates that were deployed during the existence of the game and which were fairly light in novelties. In addition, the next Battlefield will not be released until 2021.
