Notice to FPS fans, the next installment in the Battlefield saga now has its release period! See you in 2021, on PS5 and Xbox Series X!
For many years, first-person shooter (FPS) games have been among the best-selling and most popular and most popular games on platforms like Twitch. True leader of the category, the famous Call of Duty from Activision has seen competition come back in force in recent years, with a very convincing Electronic Arts with its Battlefield series. Although the last installment (Battlefield V released in 2018) did not seduce fans as much as the previous two installments, it is still a safe bet among the series of FPS.
After more than a year and a half of loyal service, Electronic Arts will soon say goodbye to Battlefield V since the cycle of updates will soon end (from this summer). But don’t worry, the rest is already underway.
The new Battlefield in 2021
It is therefore with our colleagues from VGC that Electronic Arts has confirmed that the next installment in the Battlefield saga is currently in full development and that it should arrive very quickly. Because yes, the date of 2021 already seems official. So, if we look at the last years, we can even announce the month of October or November 2021 for the release of this new album. Since yes, it is usually at the end of the year that traditional games like FIFA, Call of Duty, Battlefield generally arrive.
With the latest update to Star Wars Battlefront II, and with the end of Battlefield V updates this summer, DICE teams (the developers of Battlefield) will soon have a lot of extra free time. Thus, Blake Jorgensen, the financial director of Electronic Arts has confirmed that the next Battlefield will arrive in fiscal year 2022. That is to say, between April 2021 and March 2022. For the moment, the one we will name “Battlefield 6” gives no information.
However, on the fan side, we hope that a certain “Battlefield Bad Compagny 3” is on the agenda. It’s been 10 years since the Bad Compagny license has been at rest, and a return to Vietnam seems a fairly big wish from the fans. The opportunity to leave aside land vehicles and return to the sources of the license that made it successful.
The game would thus be planned for PS5 and Xbox Series X and would thus allow to present a beautiful demonstration of the new (and impressive) Frostbite engine.
