iPhone 12 can be launched without headphones in the box to increase sales of AirPods
When the first rumors arose about the possibility of the iPhone 12 being released without wired headphones in the box, the public was very divided, as this strategy focuses on increasing sales of AirPods and, at the same time, can help to make it cheaper the product, since it will be less an accessory in the box as a justification for the hundreds of dollars charged for the new cell phone.
And, apparently, it will be what will happen. A new report shared by Dan Ives of Wedbush shows that the Cupertino giant can “retire” the wired EarPods, showing that the manufacturer is increasingly dedicated to connecting products without cable interference.
Although this has been expected since Apple stopped providing the 3.5mm connection on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, it is still something that makes the use of TWS headphones with the cell phone mandatory, since until now the wired accessory it was accompanied by an adapter in the box, which should no longer be supplied together with the headphones.
While several rumors bring some of the main specifications of the new iPhone 12, the well-known and trusted Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed something that may leave many people disappointed with Apple. According to the analyst, the Cupertino company must follow the example of the Chinese and launch the new iPhones without headphones in the box.
So that would be the official end of wired EarPods since the company wants to promote AirPods wireless headsets. This would boost device sales and at the same time boost the company’s cash flow by increasing its share in the wearable market.
Kuo says Apple may also launch some promotions for iPhone 12 owners to purchase the device in a “combo” with AirPods or AirPods Pro. The idea is to offer a discount on the $ 159 charged by AirPods more basic, which should replace EarPods.

For now, Apple does not officially comment on the matter . Anyway, Kuo’s prediction could end up coming true for one simple reason: the company was responsible for removing the P2 port for headphones on the iPhone 7 .
This ended up influencing manufacturers in the Android universe and also boosted the valuable Bluetooth headset market. Therefore, not making the free headphones available in the iPhone 12 case can be a good deal for the company ( consumers who struggle ).
Kuo believes that this small change should increase sales of AirPods Pro from 80 to 93 million units. Of course, the Cupertino giant’s decision may also end up causing other manufacturers to follow suit. Thus, this would be the end of free headphones in the smartphone box, something quite common for those who buy Chinese devices.
