PS5 comparison with predecessors indicates that new console may be the largest ever made
Sony held yesterday its event “The Future of Gaming” , finally showing the PlayStation 5 and an extensive list of games that will reach the console . Among titles such as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon: Forbidden West and Hitman 3, the highlight of the presentation was the unveiling of the device’s very peculiar look, which caused discussions and jokes across the internet.
Something that went unnoticed, however, was the size of the device. Therefore, the Reddit u / GREBOT7 user compared the Japanese giant’s new device to its rival, the Xbox Series X , and its predecessors, using the devices’ approximate size of USB ports and disk readers as the basis for the scale. The result is impressive, indicating that the PS5 must have a large size, getting to be larger than the original PS3 and the first Xbox One model, the largest on the list.
Another comparison, this time posted by Adam Fairclough, from the HDTVtest website, also adds the PlayStation 5 variant without the disc player, keeping only the last generation. The removal of the reader does not seem to make any difference, since even without it the console remains quite bulky. Still, the best thing to do is to wait for the device to arrive on the market, or even some scale photo of the device.
The PlayStation 5 promises to make a huge leap in performance when compared to its predecessor, adopting AMD CPU of eight cores running at 3.5GHz with Zen 2 architecture, GPU RDNA 2 clocked at 2.3GHz and super-fast SSD storage with average reading speed 5GB / s.
Some titles previously confirmed for PS5 include Overwatch 2, which may have had its price and release date revealed in a recent leak, and Destiny 2, which will run at 4K and 60FPS and with a free upgrade for those who purchased the game on PS4.
