PS5 will have 664GB for installing games and apps due to the OS
It was revealed that the PS5 will have 664GB free on its SSD for installing games and applications due to the space occupied by its operating system.
According to images published in early October, where it was claimed to be the PS5’s user interface (recently demonstrated by Sony itself ), the console’s operating system will occupy about 20% of the space available on the 825GB SSD.
In one of the scenes of the filming made by YouTuber YoungYea, it is possible to see that the storage capacity available on the Playstation 5 is 664GB, that is, approximately 20% of the available space on the 825GB SSD will be occupied by the operating system. On the Xbox Series X, the same thing happens, removing 200MB of the 1TB SSD from the console to the OS.

However, it is important to note that the images shown in the video mentioned above seem to display an interface belonging to the prototype version of the console. Thus, the storage space available to end-users may vary slightly when the PS5 is released in early November.
According to the Playstation website, the title Demon’s Souls will require at least 66GB of space on the SSD. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will occupy 50GB of SSD capacity. At the same time, the Ultimate version of Miles Morales, which includes Spider-Man (2018), occupies 105GB.
Sony presents some solutions to alleviate the issue of space available on the PS5
To alleviate this issue of space on its next-generation console, Sony says the PS5 will offer the player more flexibility in managing their video game storage. It will be possible, for example, to choose to install only one mode of the game, instead of applying the complete installation of the title. In addition, it will be possible to expand the space by installing an M.2 SSD on the console, but it will take some time for SSDs capable of working in the same bandwidth as the PS5 to appear.
