Rockstar Games decides to join the Black Lives Matter movement against racism due to the episode that occurred in the USA this past weekend. Understand the cause.
Just now, Rockstar Games, due to the recent protests against police violence against blacks (episode of George Floid’s murder), decided to shut down the servers of its famous online games Red Dead Online and Grand Theft Auto Online for two hours.
The information was published through a post on the social network Twitter through the account of Rockstar Games, where it is said that the servers of the North American game developer will be interrupted for Red Dead Online and Grand Theft Auto Online from 15h (GMT) ) until 5 pm. Check it out below:
“Black Lives Matter. To honor George Floyd’s legacy today, 6/4/20, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET (Eastern Time), we will be closing access to our online games, Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online. “
There was also the same attitude on the part of other companies in the gaming industry, such as Sony, postponing their PS5 game demonstration event, CD Projekt Red studio, postponing the live stream of Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire, and Epic Games, postponing its event “The Device” and the launch of the third season of Fortnite. Take-Two Interactive told the Kotaku website that NBA 2K, Dragon City, and Monster Legends games will also be temporarily closed during the same period.
It is impressive the repercussions it is generating and the huge support that the studios are giving to the cause.
This is a time to reflect on our actions and those of others in relation to the racism that surrounds our daily lives. What do you think of the attitude of the companies in the gaming industry? Comment below and share your opinion with us!
