Snapdragon 875 will have 100W charging and will arrive in 2021, points leak
With new SoC, new gaming smartphones should be announced for next year
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC is expected to support 100W charging, according to new information leaked on the internet. According to a tweet from Digital Chat Station ( @StationChat ), a profile is known for posting information about the digital world on the Chinese blog Weibo, Qualcomm is expected to announce that the new Snapdragon 875 model will arrive in the first half of 2021 for gaming phones.
Speculation about the next SoC Snapdragon is becoming more and more concrete, as it has already been reported that TSMC is increasing manufacturing output for Qualcomm . It is hoped that it will not be long before we see an official announcement later this year at the Snapdragon Summit 2020 event .
Currently, few cell phone manufacturers are producing smartphones for games. The highlights for this segment are due to Asian brands, such as Asus Republic of Gamers with its Rog Phone line and Xiaomi with its next Black Shark 4 – a model that can also support 100W charging.

Thinking about the calendar, it is possible that in the coming weeks gaming phone manufacturers will already begin to announce their smartphone models for the segment. If the Snapdragon 875 with 100W charging support is actually planned for early 2021, some companies may already have projects for the SoC. It is important to remember that this processor arrives only for Android devices .
In 2019, Xiaomi demonstrated its 100W Super Charge Turbo technology, revealing that a smartphone with a 4000mAh battery can be recharged in just 17 minutes. It is possible that the Chinese manufacturer is one of the brands to adopt Qualcomm’s new SoC.
Since Xiaomi already has access to this fast-charging technology, it is expected to introduce the Black Shark 4 with the new Snapdragon 875. The new SoC is also expected to feature an integrated Snapdragon X60 5G modem . With support for 100W fast charging, manufacturers should adopt an effective cooling solution to avoid overheating the device with the heat generated during charging.
